SYNC was founded by and for gay men who were tired of the same broken experience on every other app.
The problem with gay dating apps isn't that there are too many of them. It's that they're all solving the wrong problem. They optimise for time-in-app, not for real-world connection. They default to photo-first, then wonder why conversations die. They treat hookups and dating as the same intent, then shrug when users feel burned out.
SYNC was started by a gay founder who had the same frustrating experience on repeat: open Grindr, scroll through a grid of faces, send "hey", get ignored, repeat until exhausted. No context. No intention. No outcome.
The insight was simple. The problem wasn't the people — it was the system. So we built a new one.
Intent-first. Conversation-first. AI-assisted without being AI-driven. Photos that earn trust instead of gatekeeping it. A system that respects your time, your privacy, and your full humanity as a gay man — not just your proximity and your face.
Not to rack up matches. Not to maximise sessions. Not to keep you scrolling. To help two people have a real conversation and actually meet.
Swiping trains users to evaluate humans in 0.5 seconds. We don't do that. We never will.
Reveal is earned, not given. Personality first. Face second.
You tell us what you want today. We respect that. No guessing, no mismatches.
The AI Wingman helps you talk to people. It never talks for you.
We measure success by meets planned, not minutes in-app.
A closeted user accidentally outed is a product failure. We build around this.
SYNC is gay-founded and gay-led. External contractors work on implementation; product decisions stay with people inside the culture.
Bangkok is one of the most vibrant gay scenes in Asia. It's also our home. We're starting in one city, with a real community, before expanding. No spray-and-pray launch.
